Senior Analyst, Market & Product Development

Overview: The Senior Analyst reports to the Director, Operations & Technology, and is responsible for driving growth through market analysis, functional analysis, software testing, and market participant onboarding support. Working remotely (or hybrid, if in the Chicagoland area), the Senior Analyst will join a collaborative product and technology team focused on driving adoption of Eris SOFR Swap futures. The successful candidate will combine product/markets expertise with experience writing detailed specifications and testing software output. She/he will have a history of producing insightful analysis, partnering with software developers to create high-quality deliverables, and working both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  1. Market Analysis
    1. Collect and retain key data (including volume, open interest, margin data, market data) of Eris SOFR and related markets (including swaps, options, SOFR futures and Treasury futures) to facilitate objective, data-driven internal analysis
    2. Requires in-depth understanding of derivative products and ability to construct optimized dataset queries
    3. Analyze and synthesize data to identify trends, concisely summarizing key points to form a narrative
    4. Create and maintain user tools for consuming Eris SOFR data, tailored to target audience (e.g., Bloomberg terminal launchpad, spread volume web page, block trade alerts)
    5. Compile market updates into visually-compelling deliverables for internal and external visibility
  2. Functional Analysis and Software Testing
    1. Compose detailed specifications to functional requirements based on business requirements
    2. Write and execute test cases/scripts for Quality Assurance and/or User Acceptance Testing, providing detailed feedback to software developers
    3. Projects may include options settlement prices, risk analytics, financial reporting, trade reporting, margin analysis, and new web tools
  3. Onboarding
    1. Equip vendors, clearing firms, trading firms, and end users to support Eris products through provision of existing materials and direct interaction via video conference and email
    2. Create and enhance materials to facilitate easier onboarding of these firms

Experience and characteristics

  1. Four or more years of relevant experience
  2. Capital markets product expertise in one or more of 1) interest rate swaps, 2) financial futures, 3) options. (Not just knowledge, but strong interest/passion)
  3. Sharp, analytical mindset, eager to crunch numbers. (Very bright, but chill about it. Embraces building spreadsheets, constructing queries, wrangling data, and presenting findings.)
  4. Functional analyst experience, writing detailed requirements. (Learned the hard way how to translate business requirements into specifications that software developers will implement correctly)
  5. Software testing experience. (Skeptically verifies every piece of output, often catching things the developers overlook, sharing sense of joint ownership with developers for work-product quality)
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (ideally coupled with silent disdain for those who lack them; disappointed by the lack of parallel phrasing of the parenthetical statements in this list)
  7. Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented. (Follows up meticulously, embracing the fluid priorities of a small company)
  8. Team orientation. (Job is remote but highly collaborative)
  9. Helpful experience/characteristics: Trading, Bloomberg terminal use (beyond IB Chat), project management, UI/UX design, Python, HTML, Chicago-based and willing to work in downtown office a few days a week, not a jerk

Location: Remote (based in continental United States)

Travel: As-needed, perhaps 1-2 per year for conferences or customer visits.
